Nerd!

When I was a child in the early 70's, my grandparents let me keep their old Bell & Howell 16mm movie camera. I tried making stop motion films. I was a big fan of Ray Harryhausen at the time. Most of my masterpieces were never taken to the drug store to be dropped off for development. Anyway, this video is nerdy and yet really cool at the same time. It reminded me of the way I used to play with my cars and army men. I figured some of you guys are nerdy enough to enjoy it as well.

  1. Very eclectic mix of cars. Not to be too nerdy, but I hadn't realized that they kept the "Fairlady" name through the later cars. The early Fairlady cars were much like an MG or Triumph knockoff that evolved into Germanic overtones by the time they got to the 280ZX.

I gotta get out my Matchbox cars and video camera.

  3. I shot many feet through a Canon Scoopic 16mm, although never stop action. Nerdy indeed!

  4. That was awesome. I really liked the sound effects. Specially the sound of a big block V8 coming from the Trans Am. It made it as real as it sounded in my head as a kid.

    Matchbox or Hot Wheels?

100% Matchbox for me as a kid.
    OK. I'm a nerd.

  5. I'm glad you guys enjoyed the video.

Steve A-I hadn't realized that there was a Fairlady, much less that it became the 280Z. You learn something new every day. The old roadster is cool.

Doug-I had a mix of Matchbox and Hot Wheels. I kept them in one of those Hot Wheels parking garages with the battery operated car elevator. It was awesome!

  6. Fun stuff! I haven't done stop action, but we used to do backwards videos, where we would tape something like drinking a glass of milk, and play it backwards. We spent many, many hours doing this sort of thing!
