Cold Brewed Coffee Part 2

I'm going to give this cold brewed coffee a big thumbs up! My wife enjoyed her first cup of coffee in about a week and suffered no ill effects. I took these photos late yesterday morning but didn't get around to doing anything with them till this afternoon. One bit of advice, the brewing time is 12 hours, so don't be a moron like me, pay attention to what time you start the process. I started it at one o'clock in the afternoon. Luckily I was still awake 12 hours later.

This is what you get with 12 ounces of ground coffee. It's coffee concentrate so it'll last my wife a good while. The concentrate can be kept in the fridge for up to two weeks.

My wife mixed about 1 part concentrate to 2 parts water. It was a little weak for me but perfect for her. As I'm typing this today I'm drinking a cup mixed 50/ 50. It's really good.

  2. Inspired by you I got mine out and made a pot. It is delicious. I liked it so much that I put my french press away for a while.
My instructions say 1 oz per cup with hot or cold water for medium strength and 1.5 oz for strong. I find strong very nice.
I use dark roast cheap and I steep for 24 hours although I cut the last one short and only did 20 hours.
The smoothest coffee I've had in a long time.

  3. Did you reheat the coffee (or add hot water), or did you drink it cold?

  4. Steve A-Next time I'll start the brew at about 8 PM.

Oldfool-It is smooth. I came home from work this afternoon, put some ice in a glass, added coffee and milk-good stuff.

adventure-I heated it up by adding hot water from my Keurig brewer. Next time I'll heat up some of the concentrate in the microwave before adding water from Keurig.

  6. Very interesting way to make coffee! I mean "interesting" in a good way!! I remember my dad giving me "coffee tablets", which were condensed coffee pieces, which one could dissolve in cold/hot water. That's what I am reminded of.

    Peace :)
