Afternoon Ride 01-18-09

I had a great ride today. With the temperature getting close to 70 degrees I was able to head out in shorts and a t shirt. I rode through some quiet neighborhoods until I hit the trail near Trinity Park. I was hoping that most people would be at home watching the playoffs but the paved trail by the river was jam packed with people. I turned around and rode the trail headed west towards home.

I finally read the instructions for my camera and figured out how to use the timer. This is me looking serious.

I've been riding this train through the park since I was six or seven years old.

University Drive Bridge

River crossing near Bellaire and Hulen

  1. Regrettably, I didn't get out on the bike today. It was nice out there. I like photos of people with their bikes. I feel goofy when I do it myself, but I like seeing the people I enjoy reading about.

I'm glad your family is okay after reading your prior post.

  2. Our breakfast ride yesterday covered much of that same ground. We didn't get to Trinity Park but we did ride along Colonial Parkway on the north side of the Zoo. I peeled off from the rest of the group at that same crossing to get home.

We'll have to get together for a ride sometime.

  3. I am glad someone is riding!

Didn't even make a Beer Run today...40 degrees and rain :-P

Did you cut your double legged stand down? On my Redline the rear wheel is 6"+ off the ground.

  4. Hello, It was gorgeous today, wasn't it? My friends and I got out and rode the trails at Sansom Park. Today was a gift. I enjoy your blog, Thanks.

  5. Christopher-Thanks for your concern. I hate being photographed but I need get over it.

Doohickie-We'll definitely have to get together although you need to plan on a very relaxed pace.

2whls3spd-I haven't cut the kickstand. I like it the way it is. When It's windy I drive the ends into the ground like tent pegs.

Twister-Thanks for visiting. I miss riding Sansom Park. I'll have to scrape some money together and buy another mountain bike someday.

  6. Wow, dry tarmac, and sunshine ;)

  7. sweet weather! It's also been quite nice out here, too odd for Jan. but cant complain at all.
    A ratTrap self-shot!! super

  8. I really don't do a killer pace. I could make sure, though, and ride The Old Gentleman. 40 pounds of bike is tough to move around!

I don't know what kind of hours you work, but you don't, by chance, have this Friday off, do you? I do, and I could meet you somewhere for a ride.

  9. I need to read the instructions for my camera and figure out how to use the timer. It's been on my to-do-list for a couple of years now.

  10. workbike-The downside to the nice mild winter is the brutally hot summer that's not too far off.

Meligrosa-It always looks bright and sunny in your pictures. I'm glad you're making the most of the mild winter. I think Doug and workbike would gladly trade places with us right now.

Doohickie-I'm working Friday. I would take the day off if had hadn't taken off just last Friday. Do you ever do any night rides? I usually get home about 5:30 PM. I'm off on weekends.

Doug-You're probably subconsciously avoiding learning how to use the timer because like me you don't like having your picture taken.
