It's Christmas Along the Trail

I really didn't feel like riding when I got home from work today but Christopher's forty mile ride is next weekend and I need to get some riding in before then.

A little holiday spirit. It was nice to see all the homes near the trail decorated with Christmas lights. Somebody has been putting up ornaments in this section of the trail for the last couple of years. I like it. Maybe I'll bring along a few extra ornaments from home and add to the display.

TCU plays Boise State at the Fiesta Bowl on January 4th. Both teams are undefeated.

It was about 34 degrees when I left the house. I hadn't ridden a hundred yards before I realized that I desperately needed a windproof jacket. The addition of a windproof layer made a world of difference. Beard Update: This is the final update as I think this is as full as this thing is going to get. My wife says she likes it so thats all that matters.

This house is awesome, too bad you can't make it out very well in this photo. I may do a ride through downtown in the next few days to check out the decorations.

  1. In this photo the beard looks good. Stop worrying about it. It will get more full but that will mean that you have gotten more old. That's the trade off.
In any event if your wife likes it, keep it. Trust me on this.

  2. The beard looks great, and so do the bars on that bike. I can't wait to try 'em on my project bike.

I went out this afternoon, but I was craving a ride. Yep, now I've got my "training" ride in, so I'm probably good to go for next Saturday.

    Let's hope the forecast holds...

  3. If the windproof jacket isn't enough, add more long-sleeve shirts. Just don't add so many that you can't put your arms down!

That ear looks a little red. Was it stinging?

  5. The beard is filling in nicely, and don't worry about 34 degrees,I rode to work yesterday when the temp was in the teens and the windchill was 5 below zero!Tough it out.Thin poly headbands work well for the "redear" problem.

  6. Oh yeah, a wind layer does make all the difference. I'm frequently surprised by how little insulation I can get by with, if I have my wind jacket on.

I agree with frankenbiker, I have a couple different weights of ear covering bands, they work wonders. Hats are almost always too warm for me, but I do like to have my ears covered when it's chilly.
