Today was the inaugural ride for one of the newest members of the Bike Friendly family,
Bike Friendly Arlington. The BFA folks did an excellent job greeting riders and making them feel welcome. Attendance was great, I believe that there were in excess of fifty riders. The only downside to todays ride could be attributed to something completely out of the organizers control, the strong wind. Fortunately a good portion of the ride took place on neighborhood streets where the wind was partially blocked by houses and trees. Despite the wind everybody had a great time. BFA is off to a good start.
Todays ride was Easter themed which is why everybody was donning rabbit ears.
This was the only tandem in the group. They handled some of the sharp turns on todays route with expert precision.
Track stands before the start. The Dallas fixed gear contingent was present, fresh off their three day adventure ride from Dallas to Austin.
On the road.
We pulled into a shopping center parking lot to allow everyone to regroup.
Easter egg hunt.
This was within ten feet of where I parked my bike, otherwise I wouldn't have found any eggs. The eggs were filled with candy and a coupon for the new Sun & Ski Sports located just east of the Parks Mall in Arlington.
Looks like it was a great ride. So sorry I had to miss it.
ReplyDeleteI was looking for you. It was good ride with a friendly group of people.
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun. That said, I was not up to the wind today. I did an early ride to my church for their annual youth fundraiser pancake breakfast & Easter egg hunt and the wind was wicked so after breakfast I just went home.
ReplyDeleteI spent the day with my son, going to the salvage yard and doing repairs on his car after a fender bender yesterday. (GRR.)
Looks like a fun ride! Is that Mike Reyher in the yellow jersey (1st pic)?
ReplyDeletePeace :)
I always enjoy riding with other people who like bikes. Despite the wind it looks like everyone had a good time.
ReplyDeleteDoohickie-It's a good thing that your mechanically inclined. I'd be paying somebody to fix the damage.
ReplyDeleteChandra-I don't believe that I heard that guy's name. You can check through the members list on BFA's Facebook page.
Big Oak-Everybody had a good time. These social rides are great. With all the different Bike Friendly Groups popping up in the DFW area it means there are many more opportunities to join in on a ride.
