Friday Afternoon Ride 09-24-10

Finally yesterday, after more than a week, I had time to get back on the bike and ride. I wasn't out to sight see today as much I was to get some much needed exercise, so there aren't that many photos.

Kind of like the monolith in 2001: A Space Odyssey, this seemingly popped up overnight. It's next to the Trinity Trails on Overton Park Drive.

Judging from the stone chips on the ground, this appears to be a work in progress.

There is a lot of work taking place along the trail on the north side of the river between Hulen Street and Bryant Irvin Road. This newly erected sign somewhat describes what's taking place. The large tract of land between the river and the train yard is being developed. I visited the developers website but actually received less information than I got from reading this sign. There is a little more information available here.

This closeup photo of the sign shows a pedestrian/ bike bridge that's to be constructed over the river to reach the new development. I'm hoping that we'll someday have a safe way of riding over the river AND the train yard to the north.

  1. That bridge project looks pretty cool. It's awesome that pedestrian and bike use is being incorporated into the project.

By the way, I like the new photo of hibiscus with your bike in the background.

Oh, if that monolith starts humming, get the heck out of there fast!
