Project Mania-Done!!!

Finally, it's done. I took the countrified Lotus out for a shakedown ride and was happy with the way it handled on pavement and off. Those big tires sure smooth out the ride.

It took much longer to complete this project than I had anticipated. I don't think I'll be doing another for quite a while.

I ended up swiping the brakes from my wife's bike. She can't ride due to a medical condition, so they won't be missed anytime soon.

I left the brake cables longer than necessary so that I can raise my stem a couple of inches if the need arises.

The REG water bottle cage proved sturdy and rattle free.

  2. It looks pretty fantastic from here. By the way, I have an idea about where to actually enjoy a "countrified Lotus". When can I expect you?

  3. Nice job. I caught the end of it so I don't know where it started, but looks good.

  5. "Swipe the brakes off your wife's bike." I will remember that advice the next time an opportunity presents itself.

  6. Great job - it's hard to believe that bike was once abandoned in a ditch somewhere. Way to rehabilitate it and turn it into a beautiful bike!

  7. Holy cow. I'd say the work paid off. It's gorgeous! Like Jon, I was thinking Rivendell when I saw the photos. Great job. Now, I'm looking forward to some ride reports!

  9. Congratulations, my man. I know it was a lot of work, but it must feel so good to put something like that together. Very sweet.
