What a Mess

My garage work area is a complete mess. I know how it got this way, I blame it on this years extreme summer heat (and my laziness). I couldn't stand being in the garage for more than a few seconds at a time so I ended up stacking my stuff where ever it would fit. With the temperature slowly dropping I figured it was time to get out there and fix this eyesore.

The first thing I needed to do was to get rid of the junk that I'm sure I'll never use again, mostly reflectors-lots of reflectors, used brake pads, old torn saddles, and miscellaneous stuff.

The items that I figured might someday be needed were tossed in this plastic container.

What to keep and what to toss?

If you know somebody that has a baby, ask them to save their baby food containers. They're perfect for storing small items.

I recently picked up this Park Tool FR-4 freewheel remover. It's for Regina and Atom freewheels. I needed to remove an Atom freewheel a couple of months ago. I ended up having to take the wheel to a nearby shop to have them unscrew the freewheel for me.

  5. starten to look squared away. I have to do the same thing soon, I have a new work bench I have to set up. I recommend a bench bolt down vice for the stuck free wheel.

  6. DAN-Hey, I was just thinking about getting a vice. I could have used one today when I was bending the metal stays for my rear rack.

  8. Myles,

Thanks for the linkage! I'm loving having a place to put those weird shots I grab on the cell phone, at odd intervals. I don't know if it's art, but I know I like it!

  10. Justin-Give me a mailing address and it's yours. I don't think I'll ever use it again.

  11. I love the way park tool show a spanner/wrench undoing the casette. In the shop we clmp the remover in the Very Big Clamp (technical phrase) and turn the wheel. Even then it takes a real yank to unscrew the screw casettes, and the VBC is beginning to work loose from the worktop.
